Maxi Lift 88 from Seagull Models

Details

This updated version has been specially designed for U.S. pilots and features a high-visibility Red, White, and Black color scheme, rugged 4.5″ air-filled rubber tires, a precision 3D CNC aluminum tail gear, and an included Electric Conversion/Motor Mount Kit—making it easy to fly this model with either gas or electric power.

The Seagull Maxi Lift is destined to become a favorite at flying fields everywhere. While it handles like an oversized trainer, it also includes standout features such as large flaps, factory-installed bomb-bay doors, and a glider tow hook. These additions make it an incredibly versatile aircraft—ideal as an advanced trainer with its tail-dragger setup and larger wingspan. It’s a perfect stepping stone before flying your first gas-powered warbird.

Equipped with a 26cc–35cc engine, the Maxi Lift is more than capable of serving as a tow plane for gliders up to 4 meters in wingspan, or for fun missions like banner towing, skydiver drops, and more. The factory-built bomb-bay features generously sized, servo-operated doors perfect for releasing streamers, parachutes, candy, tennis balls—you name it!

Constructed from top-grade balsa, plywood, and balsa/ply veneer, the classic built-up design offers exceptional strength while maintaining a light airframe thanks to precision laser-cut CAD engineering.

Whether you're looking for an advanced tail-dragger trainer, a transitional model, or a versatile sport aircraft for added fun, the new Maxi Lift from LEGEND HOBBY and Seagull Models delivers in every way.

SIMPLY A JOY
Simply a calm breeze when flying. It feels like an oversized trainer, which already needs to take into account the increased weight and inertia. The build quality is acceptable. I took it to an old and very experienced colleague to assemble it. It took us six months. In the end, we reinforced the entire cockpit area with modeling epoxy and fiberglass, reinforcing all the servo mounts and all the visible joints. The landing gear is made of hard aluminum, which is too soft for my taste and easily deformed. The inflatable wheels are a gift, but I prefer solid ones for durability reasons. The flap hinges could be better. I improved them by replacing the hinge part with a screw and thread to ensure they couldn't come loose. In the end, my model weighed 8.4 kg in flight order, but it doesn't feel clumsy or heavy at all. For the engine, I chose a DLE 35RA, to which I added a Bowman segment. It's currently running on a 19x6 wooden propeller. It's a model that greatly appreciates a propeller that prioritizes traction over speed. It feels very good to be obedient and docile in the air, and the engine has plenty of power. I haven't tried towing yet, but with a 20x6 carbon Falcon, it should be able to handle a 4-meter sailboat without any problems. The skills are those of a sports trainer; of course, you need experience before flying this one, and you have to know how to fly with the rudder. It's a model that appreciates a lot of coordinated turns and rudder use, it's very sensitive. For servos, use: D645 HW for ailerons, rudder, and elevator. For the rest of the surfaces, use Kingmax KM5514MDHV. Use an RCCSJK control unit for redundancy. For the price, there's no complaint. It comes with paper hinges on all surfaces. I replaced them with nylon hinges. It's a model that deserves them. The loops, wing-drop turns, and hammerheads are a lot of fun. You can fly inverted, and towing is super fun. It's the kind of model that makes you want a bigger car to take with you flying all the time because you always enjoy it even if the weather isn't perfect, and it always has a spot in your hangar because it's so versatile.
