XL Power's Specter Nitro brings innovation to glow engine powered helicoptersimproving simplicity and reliability. Using a proven 7075 aluminum rotor head and tail rotor from the Specter 700 V2 NME, Specter Nitro shares parts and the control feel of its electric counterpart.
Two double row angular contact bearings in the single piece main shaft blockconnect the clutch bearing block assembly to the 15mm mainshaft aligning the main gear and pinion. The clutch is captured by two high quality radial bearings, a torrington bearing inside the pinion and an angular contact bearing above the pinion to keep the clutch bell rigid. A total of four bearings for the clutch assembly combined with the tapered clutch, fan and motor shaft collet bring a level of concentricity, smoothness and longevity never seen before in a model helicopter drive train.
Direct drive main gear directly driving the rotor head has been designed for producing peak power through extreme rigidity, transferring all the power of big block nitro engines. Heavy duty sprag one way system and a dual supported clutch system (top and bottom) tied to the main crutch of the helicopter prolongs bearing life and engine periormance.
The parts are easily removed using simple tools included in the kit, including a crank lock, clutch liner gap tool, and heavy duty Allen keys for the special tapered parts. Engine maintenance is also easy, with the ability to remove the engine from the bottom without disturbing other assemblies in a matter of minutes. The engine cooling fan shroud can be independently removed by side, and without disassembly of other parts.
No part of the nitro chassis has been overlooked including servo wiring rails, excellent throttle servo geometry, extremely detailed testing of clutch weighting, diameter, year ratio, and fan design, not to mention gallons and gallons of fuel to prove the high-quality German clutch liner and other parts such as bearings will last pilots many enjoyable flights.
Newly refined tail case made from 7075 Aluminium. Ultra light to achieve perfect CG and give you the best tail performance available. Small additions to parts have been made such as Teflon tubing on the tail pushrod to protect against nitro engine vibration, as well as a stronger material for typical wear parts which may wear out faster with IC engine power.
